March of the Goblins gives Diablo 4 players a good reason to rethink their usual farming route. If you’re chasing D4 items, crafting supplies, or Murmuring Obols, don’t rush straight into the open world. Start with Infernal Hordes instead. An Aether Goblin Chaos Wave can deliver a huge amount of event reputation in one run, potentially taking you from Rank 1 to Rank 10. That’s a much better starting point than wandering around hoping to find enough goblins one at a time.
Make Your Dungeon Runs Count
Once you’ve built up reputation, Nightmare Dungeons offer another way to keep the goblins coming. In the War Plans activity tree, pick up Goblinfall for a chance at Nightmare Sigils with the Treasure Breach affix. Those Sigils can bring extra goblins into later runs. Altar of Avarice is worth considering too: after every 20 elite kills, a Goblin Altar can appear and summon more targets. Greed is Good adds a chance for a golden portal to the Goblin’s Retreat. It’s not something you’ll see every run, but finding one is a welcome surprise.
Claim Your Reputation Rewards
Visit the Altar of the Goblin in western Kyovashad to check the event track and collect your rewards. Ranks 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 each improve the chance of bonus Treasure Bags dropping, so getting those upgrades early pays off while the event lasts. The caches cover plenty of needs, from Gold and crafting materials to Obols, Gem Fragments, and Runes. Rank 9 brings Legendary items and Temper Manuals. At Rank 10, Fedric’s Masterpiece includes a Resplendent Spark and Runes, while the Regalia of the Sacred Creed adds a cosmetic reward for your mount.
Set Up Your Search
Before heading out, check your War Plans. After completing the Lord of Hatred campaign, visit Tyrael in Temis and look for Total Chaos in the Infernal Hordes tree. It makes Chaos Waves more frequent, though you’ll get one fewer Infernal Offering choice per wave. For open world hunting, you can also turn off Cross-Network Play from the character selection options to reduce competition. Bring Subo along if you’ve unlocked him; his tracking makes nearby enemies easier to spot. Keep opening the full map, too. A distant goblin icon is easy to miss on the smaller display, but you can pin its location and ride over.
Choose a Route That Fits
In Skovos, start at Celestia and circle through Shepherd Hills and Observatory Approach. Nahantu players can ride south from Samuk toward Five Hills, then head east through Restless Canopy. If you’re staying in the base game, try the crowded monster areas around Marowen in northern Scosglen. Switch routes when an area feels busy, and clear enemies as you travel rather than riding past every fight. Players browsing D4 items for sale may still find these runs useful for building up materials and Obols. And if a dungeon portal appears, take a look inside: The Grand Hoard has goblins, treasure, Aurix, and a curious cow statue tucked away in the chamber.
