MLB The Show 26 awards J.R. Richard in the Spooky Advent Program and Willie Mays on its Spooky Conquest Map, so each requires separate progress. Clear every available Moment first, then plan mission progress and roster choices with MLB The Show 26 Stubs in view while preparing your squad.
Claim Richard Through the Advent Program
The Spooky Advent Program is the route to Spooky Series J.R. Richard, and progress comes from themed Moments and missions, not the Conquest reward track. Starting with every available Moment gives you the quickest early points; after that, finish remaining missions in Mini Seasons, Conquest, Ranked, Events, or Play vs CPU. Those mode options let you fit progress around your schedule, but check each mission’s objective before committing a session because the list doesn’t establish which activity completes each task. Once Richard is claimed, put him in a lineup promptly so Parallel XP starts accumulating during your games.
1) Complete each available Spooky Moment first, then review the remaining mission objectives to bank early points.
2) Choose Mini Seasons, Conquest, Ranked, Events, or Play vs CPU according to the stated task, and add Richard to a lineup once claimed.
3) Use Conquest for map progress with available free cards and high-Parallel Awards or Postseason Series pieces in your squad.
Use Conquest for More Than Willie Mays
The Spooky Conquest Map awards Spooky Series Willie Mays, while its offline route can also move several goals forward in one session. Bring a balanced squad that includes free cards from the 9th Inning path, Retro World Series Program, or Cornerstone Max Scherzer Program, plus high-Parallel Awards or Postseason Series players when they suit your lineup. Stronghold clears and map goals can produce 9th Inning XP, packs, stubs, and Parallel XP together, so this is the efficient choice when you have several of those targets. If your roster lacks suitable cards, use available options instead of delaying map progress.
● Give a free program card a spot when you want Parallel progress on it and its position fits the squad you’re taking into Conquest.
● High-Parallel Awards or Postseason Series players suit the map squad when they already fill positions you want to use.
● If you mainly want Willie Mays, prioritize strongholds and map goals; broader squad tasks are useful, but they aren’t the reward itself.
Reality check: A high card rating alone doesn’t guarantee a useful lineup fit, and Parallel XP only starts after you claim and equip Richard.
Choose Cards by Role and Collection Goal
Spooky Series value depends on position needs and Parallel potential, not just card rating. A Spooky starter or outfielder can help a Ranked or Event lineup even when another series has a higher-rated option, so judge the fit by the role you need, not the number alone. This matters most if you plan to use the player enough to build Parallel levels; otherwise, changing a settled lineup may not pay off. Spooky cards don’t advance Postseason, Topps Update, Spotlight, or Finest collections. If those collections matter, use Spooky cards for roster needs, not collection progress.
● Check whether the position fits your active Ranked or Event lineup before swapping in a Spooky card for its series label alone.
● Keep Postseason, Topps Update, Spotlight, and Finest collection targets on separate tracks because Spooky cards won’t add progress there.
● When a new player won’t fill a position or earn Parallel progress, leave your established lineup in place and complete map objectives with another option.
