Magma Greatness is the 39-reward MyTEAM challenge ladder, ending with 96 OVR Donovan Mitchell at SG/PG. In NBA 2K27, his position eligibility and live badge tooltip matter more for lineup fit than the Magma label alone. While challenge rewards are the direct route, some players may use NBA 2K27 MT for a planned Exchange target; keep any spend tied to a named card or badge need.
Clear the Greatness ladder through challenges
Greatness Series is an NBA is Back challenge ladder, not a pack-only path. The set has 39 rewards, with Magma Mitchell as the completion prize; the live challenge panel is the place to confirm your platform’s order and lock conditions.
From Main Menu, enter MyTEAM and open the live challenge tracker.
Find Greatness Series and read the listed requirements and lock conditions before starting a game.
Clear the challenges in their published order, checking the tracker after each game before queuing the next task.
After a reward becomes available, claim it and check the collection. Open Mitchell’s tooltip to confirm the displayed badges and SG/PG eligibility.
Check for an agenda that shares a game mode with a Greatness task, so one game can advance both trackers.
The rollout notes dated October 22, 2026, placed the go-live on October 23. Since challenge order and locks can differ between console builds, trust the current MyTEAM panel over an old screenshot.
Match Magma badges and roles to your lineup
Mitchell’s listed SG/PG eligibility makes him a guard option, not a card to force into a pure SF slot. Check the live tooltip after claiming him; early screenshots can leave out extra badges that affect how you value the card.
Badge and animation locks help explain why the 96 OVR reward may matter beyond its rating. Compare the actual badge details with the jobs your lineup needs, and do not assume an older image shows the full card information.
Early Magma discussion also mentions SGA and Anthony Davis in Exchange and pack talk. Treat those as separate card decisions: a shared Magma Gem Tier does not mean matching roles, badges, or tendencies, so inspect each live card before spending MT.
Protect MT when the first listings arrive
The first wave of challenge completions can put more Magma cards on the market and make early prices noisy. If you plan to buy through Exchange, set a max-buyout you can afford and filter by Gem Tier Magma rather than browsing without a target.
Before listing an extra card, compare recent sold listings with the same OVR and badge set, then account for Auction House fees. Mitchell’s prize card is not a reliable price match for a different Magma player, even when both share the same tier.
Finishing every challenge on launch night is not required to make a sound lineup decision. Faster players can clear tasks, list extra cards, then look for a specific fit; taking several nights is reasonable if it keeps you from spending MT on a card you do not need.
If a challenge does not register, return to Main Menu, enter MyTEAM again, and check the Courtside-style challenge tracker before treating the task as locked. End your next session by checking the remaining Greatness tasks and choosing one that overlaps an agenda; if a named Exchange target still fits your lineup and budget, decide whether to buy NBA 2K MT Coins within a firm spending limit.
