Grinding through the latest Path of Exile patch notes reveals a ton of impactful changes, from skill tweaks and nerfs to major quality-of-life updates in the Atlas and league systems. Here’s a breakdown of the most noteworthy updates for endgame players, map farmers, and build enthusiasts.
Skill Updates and Nerfs with buy POE currency
Several popular skills have received significant adjustments:
Earth Shatter & Overexert: Earth Shatter has been nerfed by roughly 20%, with Overexert seeing similar reductions. While still viable, these nerfs mean certain builds will deal about 40% less damage.
Static Strike: This skill now encourages spamming the skill itself rather than just occasional hits. Charge Dash and other auxiliary skills are largely ignored in this update.
Refraction Fixes: Refraction no longer grants free Fork and Chain support. Skills like Kbok now require proper fork support to achieve multiple explosions, which curbs previously broken interactions.
Energy Blade & INT Scaling: Energy Blade’s quality and stacking potential have been heavily reduced. Intelligence scaling for ES builds has also been nerfed, correcting the imbalance where a few nodes previously offered massive advantages.
Spectres & Minions: Certain spectres have been buffed for consistency, while others have reduced life to encourage proper minion usage without trivializing content.
Other minor but impactful tweaks include:
War Cries: Consecrated ground is now weaker but comes with consistency improvements.
Slayer & Bloodseeker Updates: Life leech duration has increased, and Bloodseeker’s repeat attacks now function more reliably, improving sustained damage recovery.
Elementalist and Assassin Updates: Minimum charges for some buffs have been adjusted, while reflective immunity and ignite interactions have been fixed, eliminating frustrating edge cases.
Atlas and Map System Changes
Grinding maps has become more streamlined:
Memory Strands & Threads: Players can now drop strands in maps and farm them in batches, reducing tedious stop-and-go farming of bosses like Shaper, Elder, and Maven.
Uber Bosses & Elder Guardians: Uber bosses now require fewer encounters to farm, and Elder Guardian chips now consistently appear on Tier 16 maps.
Influence Maps: Influence map farming has been nerfed. Original scripts no longer yield large numbers of influence maps but now spawn a single boss that guarantees a map drop.
Atlas Passives: Nodes that previously sustained maps are now juicing nodes, rewarding rare monsters and encouraging more active map management. Certain passive tree nodes now collapse maps in the region, which can accelerate progression without tedious map juggling.
Other quality-of-life improvements include:
Delirium & Scarabs: Delirium loot has been buffed, while scarabs are now easier to target, particularly divination card scarabs that were previously frustrating to farm.
Ore and Crop Adjustments: Ore farming has been slightly nerfed in some contexts but generally more rewarding, while crops now mainly serve cosmetic and rune purposes.
Currency and Economy Tweaks
The patch introduces notable changes to early and mid-game currency:
Exalts and Regals: These currencies are more common early on, easing progression and crafting costs.
Maven Chisels & Influence: Many older methods for map sustain or boss rushes have been nerfed, balancing the economy while maintaining viable farming paths.
Smelters & Port Targeting: Smelters now yield better rewards, though high-level clusters remain scarce. Ports have removed currency bias, leveling the playing field for all players.
New League Features and POE2 Teasers
Skill Mechanics: New skills, particularly melee and spell skills, come with base conversions that may limit damage types but open avenues for strategic experimentation.
League Systems: League-specific mechanics, like Slam to Story, have been adjusted to be less punishing, while early game acquisition of weapons and gems has been balanced.
Awakened Gems: Now only obtainable from exceptional sources, limiting abuse from previously infinite farming loops.
Takeaways for Players
This patch is a mix of nerfs, buffs, and quality-of-life improvements:
Certain broken builds, particularly those abusing Refraction, energy blade stacking, or influence farming, have been curtailed.
Map management is more streamlined, and farming memory strands, delirium loot, and Uber bosses has been made less tedious.
Skill diversity is slightly improved, but some old builds remain untouched, leaving room for experimentation.
Currency availability has been smoothed, making early game progression less punishing without trivializing endgame economics.
Overall, this update balances POE currency‘s endgame economy and builds while introducing meaningful improvements to map grinding and league mechanics. Players may find the early and midgame less frustrating and the new mechanics offer new opportunities to explore creative builds.
