With the playoffs approaching, NBA and Kelly Olynyk Jersey teams are racing against time to secure favorable rankings. In the NBA, teams are on winning streaks; in the NHL, teams are struggling to find their rhythm.
The Atlanta Hawks snapped their 11-game winning streak Friday night in Houston, but many teams in the NBA are still on winning streaks. The two teams with the longest winning streaks will play on Saturday—the Oklahoma City Thunder are on a 10-game winning streak, and the Los Angeles Lakers are on an 8-game winning streak. The Thunder should have an easier game on Saturday, playing the struggling Washington Wizards on the road at 5 p.m. ET. The Lakers’ game may be a bit tougher, as they face the Southeast Division leaders, the Orlando Magic, on the road at 7 p.m. ET.
Meanwhile, the winning streaks in the NHL have stalled, with only two teams currently on more than two consecutive wins. In the Eastern Conference, nine teams have more than 80 points, including two with 83 points and four with 84 points. The Carolina Hurricanes lead the standings with 94 points, followed by the Buffalo Sabres (92 points) and the Tampa Bay Lightning (88 points). Of these nine teams, the Carolina Hurricanes are the only one without a game on Saturday, while some of those teams will face each other directly.
The Lakers lead the Pacific Division and are third in the Western Conference; the Magic, while leading their own division, are only sixth in the Eastern Conference. During this winning streak, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Rockets (twice), the Denver Nuggets, and the New York Knicks.
Luca Doncic scored 60 points in Thursday’s 134-126 road victory over the Miami Heat. The Orlando Magic had previously won seven straight games but have lost their last three, missing star forward Franz Wagner and guard Anthony Black.
This Saturday features 10 NBA games and 11 NHL matches, in addition to a plethora of other sports betting and viewing options. These include UFC Fight Night, soccer games, and spring baseball games on Paramount+, with the future odds for MLB and NFL games always worth watching.
During their eight-game winning streak, the Lakers averaged 123 points per game, far exceeding their season average of 115.7 points. Not only did Doncic score 60 points against the Heat, but LeBron James also contributed a triple-double with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. The Magic are currently struggling, and Paul Bencello (averaging 22.3 points per game) will need to shoulder the majority of the offensive burden. SportsLine’s model simulations show the Lakers have a 65% chance of winning and a 60% chance of covering the spread as the 3.5-point favorite. SportsLine expert “Prop Bet Guy” points out that with Doncic poised to win MVP and James playing his best game of the season, Reeves has recently become “redundant.” In the last 15 games where he played alongside Doncic and James, Reeves scored less than that in 11 of them.
The Milwaukee Bucks are facing a tough challenge as their two leading scorers are potentially out: Adam Edstrom Jersey is confirmed to be out, and Kevin Porter Jr. is questionable due to a knee injury. The Bucks seem to have lost their fighting spirit, remaining 7.5 games behind the play-in zone and having lost 10 of their last 12 games. The Phoenix Suns, firmly in seventh place in the West, are currently on a four-game losing streak after a 6-7 run. This game presented a good opportunity for them to regroup, and after a narrow victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night, the Phoenix Suns should regain their confidence. Victor Wimbledon hit a jump shot in the final moments to end the Suns’ hopes 101-100, but Colin Gillespie delivered one of the Suns’ best performances of the season, scoring 24 points on 6-of-11 shooting from three-point range. SportsLine models predict the Suns have a 61% chance of winning, but only a “B” overall rating, while the Bucks have a 66% chance of covering the spread. The model also favors a total score of less than 219.5 points and believes that the Bucks’ +440 odds are highly valuable.
These are two of the six closely contested teams in the Eastern Conference standings: Montreal with 84 points and the Islanders with 83. New York has been a strong road team, with 45 of its 83 points coming on the road. The Canadiens have four fewer points at home than on the road. Montreal has lost three of its last four games and four of its last five meetings with the Islanders. New York is 8-4 in its last 12 games, but lost 2-3 to the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. Matthew Schaefer scored for New York in that game, becoming the youngest defenseman in NHL history to reach 50 career points. The Islanders allow 2.75 goals per game, tied for the third fewest in the NHL, while the Canadiens allow 3.24 goals per game, tied for the eighth most. This is the second meeting between the two teams this season. On February 26, the New York Islanders rallied from a 0-2 deficit to defeat the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 in overtime. Despite this, the Canadiens remain the favorites to win, with SportsLine’s model showing a 58% chance of victory.
This matchup between two former “Sixth” teams is significant because both teams are currently tied with 84 points, trailing the third-ranked Tampa Bay Lightning by four points in both the Eastern Conference and the Atlantic Division. They currently hold the last two wild-card spots in the division. The two teams met in January, with the Bruins winning 3-0 at home; now the Red Wings will host the Bruins at Little Caesars Arena, where they have a 20-11-3 home record. The Boston Bruins have a poor road record this season (12-14-7), losing two of their last three games, and just beat the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday. The Red Wings will be missing star player Dylan Larkin, but they have won two straight games, including a crucial 3-1 division win against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. The Bruins have won five of their last seven meetings with the Red Wings, and SportsLine’s model suggests they are likely to continue this advantage. In the model’s simulation, Boston has a 48% probability of winning, making the Bruins, as the underdogs, a worthwhile betting option.
