When you get deep into Diablo 4’s endgame, the real question stops being how strong your build looks on paper and starts being how much time you can keep feeding into it. A lot of players hit that wall hard. D4 items are part of the chase, sure, but the chase gets messy when the rewards feel buried under layers of luck. You clear harder content, you push higher tiers, and still the next upgrade can feel miles away. That is where the frustration starts to bite.
Mythic drops and the slow burnThe biggest sore spot for many players is the Mythic layer of loot. Charms and Horadric Seals are meant to feel special, and they do. The problem is that “special” can turn into “probably never.” A seal like the Diamond Mind sounds exciting because it changes how a set works, not just a number on a sheet. But if the drop chance is tiny, most players never get to test that feeling for themselves. You end up watching other people talk about it while your own stash stays empty.
When one good affix is already a winThat same issue shows up again with Greater Affixes. On paper, four perfect rolls should be the dream. In practice, even finding one useful Greater Affix on the right base item can be rough once you are deep in the grind. A lot of players do not even think about perfect gear anymore. They settle for something decent, then move on. The gap between “good enough” and “fully finished” is huge, and it is held together by luck more than effort. That is a bit of a slog, honestly.

Hitting level 300 is not just a stretch goal. It is a mountain. Glyphs are similar. Getting them to 150 takes a steady stream of runs, and most of those runs blur together after a while. The power gain is there, but it gets smaller just as the time cost keeps climbing. You can feel the design asking for commitment, yet it does not always feel like the game is meeting you halfway.
Deaths, gems, and the last stretchThen there are the mechanics that get in the way of the whole climb. On Death effects still feel rough in high-end content. One bad ground hazard, one delayed explosion, and a clean run can collapse fast. That kind of loss does not always feel earned. Add in the grind for gem materials, and the loop starts to feel padded out. Players do not mind effort. They just want it to feel like the effort is moving them somewhere. Right now, a few of the biggest goals in Diablo 4 make that harder than it should be, even when you are already working through cheap D4 items and every other scrap the endgame throws at you.
