Do you want to start your own group or guild? Here’s some things to think about prior to purchasing the charter
Guild reputation was added to Cataclysm in order to increase guild loyalty and participation. Guild members can only get exclusive benefits, mounts or pets when you are a member of the Guild. Guild levels are no longer available from Warlords of Draenor–all guilds are now level 25. Players can continue to build their personal reputation in their guild and take part in actions that award gold to the guild’s bank.
This guide explains how to earn a reputation through an organization as well as how to build a guild up, achievements and perks at every guild level, and which reputation levels and achievements are required to earn all the exclusive guild rewards.
Between several tough raid tiers and the draw of other games like the soon-to-be-launched WoW Classic — guilds are having a hard time of it. Some have stopped raiding, some are giving up while others have collapsed or even quit altogether. It is possible to start your own guild in the event that your guild is no longer sustainable or doesn’t meet your needs.
But you shouldn’t rush, because running a guild is a significant commitment. If you don’t go in with a strategy it’s possible to end up right where you started in a broken group.
Here’s the best way to start your own group.
Think about the reason you’re starting your guild.
The first thing you have to ask before you race towards obtaining the charter is what you want to know. If the goal is to gain by playing raids, Mythics, or PVP There might be a better method of doing it. Instead of starting from scratch, you might look into guilds that are on your server(s) that are doing activities you’re interested. My guess — based on what I’m reading in forums — is that they’re likely to be recruiting. Particularly raiding guilds seem to be seeking competent players to clear the raid stage before WoW Classic arrives next year. Many guilds are willing to accept you.
What kind of guild do you have in mind?
Perhaps existing guilds don’t fit your ideas and you’ve got an idea of what type of guild you’d like to build. Next, you need to determine what kind of guild you want and what it will differ from other guilds. For instance, progression-based raiding guilds are popping up everywhere You’ll likely find heavy competition for recruitment. Your guild could end up in the red when you’re not able to recruit enough members to form a team of raiders.
Whatever the reason behind starting a guild you will have to give compelling reasons to members to sign up. Brainstorm alongside any players who are interested in joining your new guild, and determine what type of guild you want to be.
Don’t do it on your own. Recruit your officers first
To form your officer core you should begin with like-minded players. When you begin your new guild, consider how you will divide your responsibilities. In the case of a guild that raids, you’ll want a raid officer (or officers) to oversee your raid team. The amount of officers you’ll need will depend on the goals of the guild. This article can help you determine the roles of officers you want and how many you’ll need. No matter what officer configuration you pick ensure that you know what each officer does and write it down so there’s no misunderstanding.
I don’t recommend the guild leader serve as the officers of raid (or any other position you decide to play). Why? Being the leader, you’re in charge of everything , whether explicitly (as in managing events) or in a more subtle manner (as when handling the drama). As GM you must monitor everything to ensure it all runs smoothly. You can lose your focus while you’re making raids. The drama between the guilds could slip by. I’ve seen it happen — you can’t do everything.
If you’re planning to start an organization with your members, make sure you get commitments from your friends to serve as officers, at the very least, to begin.
Other considerations to consider
Do not forget to add the guild bank that will need some micromanaging. If you don’t have a member of each class or race and you don’t have enough money, you’ll be unable to fill all the banking slots. However, if you are just starting out then it’s possible you don’t require all the space. Choose what you would like to see on every tab and decide who will be able to see, deposit, and withdraw money from each tab. Certain guilds have the “officer only” tab but I feel everybody should be able see what’s in your bank.
The subject of guild finances is a subject that can cause a lot of debate. Do you want to offer repair services to members as a reward? If yes, you’re likely need to have a steady flow of revenue, and you’ll want to discuss how to fund the bank. There are several methods to earn gold: you can complete 5-man and Mythic+ dungeons, raids (one every week) as well as rated battlegrounds. In addition, it is important to learn how to make cash.
Guild ranks are equally crucial. Every rank has distinct name, authorizations and purpose. Officers should be able to distinguish themselves, however, it’s your choice on how to organize your ranks.
Because in-game guild tools are not always the most efficient so you must search for sites that host guilds. There isn’t a general guild announcement system, and you’ll need a place to notify the entire guild of what’s happening. A social media account or a guild web site can be your bulletin board. Don’t depend on the brief “Guild Message of the Day” that you can set in game, as it doesn’t permit you to publish enough posts to truly communicate.
Think about your tabard. Although you don’t require the tabard, it could be a good option to show your guild’s identity. (Plus you can earn a badge in designing a guild’s tabard.) With the variety of colours and icons, it can seem more difficult to design your tabard , than to decide what kind of guild you’d like to be.
Congratulations on joining the new guild!
After you have decided what you’d like to accomplish then you can begin creating your guild.
The process of establishing a charter is simple. To purchase the charter, you must go to the Guild Master in any major city. You’ll have to choose the name you want to use and then collect 10 signatures from the guild. It is impossible to change the name so make sure it’s spelled exactly how you’d like it to be.
